Description

  • The 59th Edition of this leading motoring annual, from innovative publisher ETAI, has been improved and the content extended. To guarantee the quality of this unique workmanship, E-T-A-I has forged partnerships with the best specialists from the automotive market place and the world of motor sport, with a view to providing incisive analysis and a new range of topics, and to cover all the events that have left their mark on the automotive world in 2011.
  • As in previous editions, Automobile Year 59 will be divided into three main subject areas: Industry, Motorsport and Culture. Each of these three areas includes exhaustive coverage of the events that punctuated the year, together with an overall assessment of their collective significance.
  • The Industry section is divided into three chapters: “Economics” (a study of the major world markets especially including the new emerging countries such as Russia or Brazil), “Production” (the principal new developments presented in 2011 and an assessment of technological trends) and “Design” (an extensive selection of concept cars and an assessment of trends).
  • The Motorsport section has been expanded and now has five chapters : “Formula 1”, “Endurance”, “Rallying”, “Touring Cars” and “American Racing Events”. Each chapter includes an analysis of the main contenders, a report of each race with results, and a review of the season. This section has been completed with a review of other race events, including: the single-seat formulae, the super GT, the IRC Championship, the Dakar and other rally-raids, the German DTM Championship.
  • The Culture section is divided into two chapters: “Art” (mutual influences between cars and other art forms) and “Heritage” (collector’s market, historic races, concours d’elegance, etc.).
  • The editorial team is made up of leading international specialists, selected on the basis of their subject knowledge and quality of writing. The photos are painstakingly selected for their quality and originality. The graphic design remains sober, but changes have been made to improve the clarity and readability of the work, including: a dedicated colour for each section, to enable readers to find their way round the book more easily.
